On September 18th and 19th, we were invited to speak for the first edition of the Lille Zoo Conservation Days.
For two days, our team ran a booth where they presented our research and education programs around the binturong
On this occasion, ABConservation was part of the 4 associations hosted by the zoo (Connaître et Protéger le Panda Roux ((CPPR), Le Groupe ornithologique et naturaliste du Nord - Pas-de-Calais (GON), and Little Fireface Project (LFP)).
For two days, our team ran a booth where they presented our research and education programs around the binturong, and more broadly around endangered species and environmental issues.
Placed in front of the enclosure of the binturong couple at the zoo (Gala and Zim) we observed and discovered this species unknown to most visitors, discussed its ecological role, the threats it faces, our impact on its population and more generally on the environment. Of course, we also mentioned the formidable work initiated since 2014 by our association on research about this species and its environment.
During this dense weekend, we interacted with nearly 500 people.
We were extremely well received by all the zoo staff and we wish to thank them again for this initiative and for inviting us to speak during this event.
During this dense weekend, we interacted with nearly 500 people. Thank you to all the visitors we had the pleasure to meet, with whom we were able to chat under a very pleasant late summer sun.
