On three occasions, Philippine palm civetsParadoxurus philippinensis) were safely captured and released. No binturongs have been spotted in the traps since the beginning of the year, but patience is essential in fieldwork, and we remain hopeful of achieving this soon!

On the ground, the team had the chance to observe a family of Asian small-clawed otters (Aonyx cinereus) ! An excellent sign of the good health of freshwater ecosystems.✨

Additionally, our camera traps captured images of the majestic Palawan hornbill (Anthracoceros marcheiEndemic to Palawan Island and classified as «vulnerable» on the IUCN Red List, the Palawan hornbill is heavily threatened by deforestation and habitat fragmentation, making every field observation a valuable indicator of the forest's ecological integrity.🗒️

These encouraging observations remind us of the importance of long-term monitoring and habitat conservation efforts in Palawan. 🌿
