Our scientific team welcomed back Rollyna, who was our research assistant in 2022. She will gradually take over the leadership of the Bearcat Study Program, while Elea trains her for the position. In collaboration with the outreach team, they paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, mayor of Puerto Princesa (where our offices are located). An agreement between ABConservation Foundation Inc. and the municipality is currently being signed in order to successfully carry out our research and outreach activities.

Our two interns from Palawan State University had their first field experience. Their internships are soon coming to an end (so thanks to Giddeon and Jan Paul!). Speaking of fieldwork, we are doubling our efforts to set up radio tracking for a binturong. We have ordered an additional trap and started monitoring ficus trees in the evening in order to locate the binturongs.

Our camera traps have also recently yielded some very interesting images! A young individual was filmed scratching itself, and three small binturongs (or «bintlets») were filmed with their mother last February! This is the first time the team has observed more than two binturong offspring in the wild.
